Jorge Vidart, a pioneer of computing in Uruguay

Jorge Vidart was part of the group that introduced computing at Universidad de la República in 1967, creating its Computing Center and Uruguay's first degree in the field. Educated in Grenoble, he combined research, talent development and institution building: he led the Latin American School of Informatics, helped train a generation of regional researchers, headed the Presidency's National Computing Commission and advised the IDB, UNESCO and UNDP. His ability to connect scientific excellence, public policy, international cooperation and regional impact inspires the institute's purpose.

Governance

During its implementation stage, governance includes Uruguay Innova (U+I), SENCI and Agesic.

ANII incubates the institute's implementation. Its headquarters are in the Los Ombúes Building at LATU's Innovation Park.
